Flora Vitamins & Omegas
All about omega oils and vitamins in Flora
You’ve probably heard about the benefits of omega 3 and 6, which are known as ‘good fats’. Health experts believe they’re an important part of a balanced diet, especially for growing children. And because our bodies can’t make omega 3 and 6, it makes sense to include them in your family’s diet wherever you can.
Why are omega 3 and 6 important for children?
Children need omega 3 and 6 for normal growth and development. They help with growing and renewing cells. Omega 3 helps keep the heart healthy, while omega 6 is linked to maintaining cholesterol levels.
How does Flora give children omega 3 and 6?
Our spreads are made with plant oils (sunflower, linseed and rapeseed), which naturally contain omega 3 and 6. There are plenty of ways to use Flora in your family’s food – for example, with bread, in baking or with cooked vegetables – so you can help them get even more omega 3 and 6 every day.
How much omega 3 and 6 should my children have?
There’s no official Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of omega 3 and 6 for little ones, but our health experts believe children need around 2g of omega 3 and 10g of omega 6 every day to help them grow up healthily. Two portions (2 x 10g) of Flora a day contribute a significant amount to this. Omega 3 and 6 also help to maintain normal cholesterol levels – another health benefit for your family.
There’s plenty more family goodness in Flora
To help you keep your family healthy, we add Vitamin D – which is essential for a balanced diet and needed for strong bones. In fact, many of our spreads are the fifth most abundant food source of Vitamin D, and are lower in saturated fat than butter. So they’re a healthy choice for kids and adults.
